Let me start out by saying, emphatically, that anyone who trusts any banking institution is a complete and utter fool. The manner by which Obama airlifted trillions of money from the treasury to bail out the banksters should have convinced anyone with a pulse of this.

This was possible because the banksters can legally buy our politicians with their campaign contributions, which is exactly how Goldman Sachs bought Obama. But, after years of using debit cards and credit cards instead of a 'real' bank account, I recently had to accept that, in the 21st century, it is just not really possible not too have a bank account of some kind. Even debit cards are actually just a special type of checking account issued by some banking institution. The Direct Express debit cards which some people have their Social Security checks direct deposited to are actually issued by Comerica Bank.

Even Green Dot cards are issued by an entity calling itself Green Dot Bank which associates your Green Dot card with a routing number and an account number like any other 'real' checking account. So, recently, grudgingly, after about a decade, I went ahead and opened a 'real' checking account with a local bank. After I did, I noticed that their online services include support for sending and receiving funds to and from my new checking account via PopMoney. And, therein is the real problem.

Not with PopMoney, but because of what PopMoney _has_ to do to protect itself from the real Enemy of Man ... these damned banksters. Look, pretty much all the complaints about PopMoney which I have read, at least so far, could have been avoided if the recipient and payer had, first, verified their PopMoney account _before_ actually using it to transfer funds. There is no way to avoid occasionally having to wait typically three business days, sometimes longer, for a transfer to be processed at both ends.

That totally unnecessary delay is built into the process because PopMoney is dealing with banksters just like we do and the banksters are the ones, not PopMoney, who look for ways to hold onto your money for as long as they can legally get away with doing so. Banksters do this because it is a legal way by which they can get use your money to make more money without having to pay you interest for the use of your money.

So, yeah, I intend to use PopMoney. But, I will do so with my eyes wide open, knowing that there is nothing PopMoney can do to prevent my bank, or the other party's bank, from screwing us.
