ID Verification

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have a bank account with Regions bank. My business partner sent me money through PopMoney and I had no problem collecting it and sending it to the card I wanted.

So I thought it would be a good idea to set up my own account with PopMoney. So they send me an email saying that I won't be able to receive any money until I can verify my identity and they asked for a copy of my ID and a bank statement to the card that I want to use. So I sent it and thought everything was fine until my partner tried to send me money the other day. They have my account frozen and I cannot send or receive money at all and nobody can tell me why.

I spoke to a supervisor and they won't give me any information either.

My partner is currently working on a job in Mexico so for him to send me money using another method costs a whole lot more. I'm very upset and would at least like an explanation why they won't let me use the services.

I hate pop money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

It's a total PIA. My renter has been using it for 2 years.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it wants a verification to receive and other times it doesn't. It's sporadic and I certainly can't keep track of user ID and PW (even though I have a long excel list). Trying to reset was painful and unsuccessful.

Tech support was somewhat helpful, but got testy when I got frustrated. I told her this was wasting a lot of my time and she inferred that I was wasting hers. That's her frigging job!! I did not yell or curse at her, just voiced my displeasure and frustration.

If it works for you great. I am not computer illiterate, I run 2 computers at my desk, one with dual screens.

It sucks, hands down

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This *** sucks, It takes forever to receive text for confirmation, that's if you receive that text at all. Customer service is " " too, nobody can help with anything, they all talk about the system, they can't help with anything else, there is a little difference between talking to them and talking to a robot.

They repeate the same word, the same process, same everything, and at the end they tell you to try again. Try this if you want to receive money next month, not immediately. I had to switch banks because the previous one used popmoney. Popmoney sucks, hands down.

DONT USE THIS. I have tried Venmo, it is waaay better.

Pop money intentionally is vague about how they transfer funds especially with regard to timing.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I got this new service through my bank and thought that the Popmoney app that started showing in my online page was a novel, smart, as my bank calls it "re-imagined" way to transfer funds "instantly" -- as Popmoney claims. What they cleverly fail to inform you is that for certain transactions, transfer will occur in 1 day, while others can take up to 3 days.

They will not tell you what the cut-off amount is for a three day transfer, so if you happened to have been in my shoes, with a tight deadline looming thinking that you can quickly send money only to find out after the fact that the money will not be avaiable until three days and although it has been debited from your account yet to be deposited in the recipient's account, both my bank and Popmoney had no way of stopping that process. Be warned, your money will be in limbo for three days and there is nothing they will do to either expedite nor return the funds, and to add to that, the Pop money specialists have no clue about their process. Here are three different responses I received while trying to get my money back: 1. "Your debit card has a different processing netwrok when compared to your recipients, therefore the tracsction will take three days"...

--??? 2. "Your bank can stop the payment through bill pay" ... -- which turned out to be false.

3. "Unfortunately although the amount was debited, and is yet to be deposited, Popmoney is a 'self-service' so there is nothing we can do on our end" -- which essentially means: " yes we have collected your money but in the next three days it will be in our posession in some black hole which we will keep it for 72 hours before we can bring it to the light of day and place into your intended recipient's account". As far as I am concerned this is on many levels a fraudulent scheme, they are probably using the funds in a larger fund to churn out some quick trades to make a pretty sum in terms of interest. The lack of transparency is supsect and I am appalled that well-known banking institutions still use this service despite all the complaints (for several years) that I have seen all over the web.

Imagine if you made an error by depositing to the wrong account --you wouln't be able to get your funds back even though it is yet to be posted(deposited) into the recipeint's account, that alone is a big red flag!

For those of us who are on the go and really do not have the time to physically go to the banks and/or need to make funds available hastily; for the fact that Popmoney keeps the timing of their transfers in fine print and do not even state when these deposits will occur until the recipent receives an alert or unless the recipient logs (creates an account) into Popmoney with their details, simply tells me that it is a scheme, a wholly inefficient service that lags woefully behind when compared to its peers, and shame on ony banking institution that utilizes this. Needless to say, I will be terminating my account with my bank for provoding such a useless service, having no systems in place for funds retrieval and finally for showing the 'type' of bank they are by agreeing to dump this tras of a service on its customers.

Popmoney Holds

I tried to sent money from my account to another person. They put a hold on my bill pay account because they said that I elected to sent the money to an email address?

Although I did not see that option, why is that an option. If I am putting the banking information, why would that be an option in the first place. So, a hold will be placed on my account for at least 3 days until I receive an email from them. I was told by the representative the first day, October 9, 2017 that she confirmed that this me and she will relay that to the right Department.

I called them again today, Tuesday, October 10, 2017, but was unsuccessful. I told them in the day of technology, I don't think anything should take 3 days for correction.

Anyway, at least I know not to use Popmoney as an option because it is too inefficient, and it's unfortunate that my credit union uses it. So, I guess I have to sit my computer and wait for the email as I was told today?

PNC Bank took seven days to credit incoming deposit to my account.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I received text notice on 9/29 that incoming $ was available for deposit to my account at PNC Bank. When I phoned PNC on 9/30, they replied that the money would be deposited to my account on 10/06.

SEVEN DAYS TO TRANSFER? Pop Money works. PNC Bank doesn't. PNC had no way to expedite this transaction.

I asked them to feed my dissatisfied customer complaint up the line, hoping they will respond. Previous deposits from same source bank to PNC were done next-day.

PNC's answer was to recommend I switch to another interbank transfer agency. My answer is to switch out of PNC Bank because of their continually declining service.

HORRIBLE TIME CONSUMING RUDE NO ACCESS TO MY FUNDS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

absolutely unworkable ... no matter how hard i tried and how many HOURS i spent on the telephone hoping for resolution, i could not access funds sent to me.

in various sessions, i was given conflicting information, all equally unhelpful, until finally the sender of the funds was forced to cancel the deposit and go elsewhere to make the payment. on the humorous side, when i lamented to one operator that i was in charleston, s.c. and had hurricane prep to attend to, she told me that the hurricane was NOT going to hit south carolina.

hope they are better at meteorology than banking. if you ever want to see your funds again, steer CLEAR!

More that a week for fund to be available

Popmoney - More that a week for fund to be available

It takes more than a week for funds to be available. Even when you are notified that the fund is available it takes an additional 3 days minimum to see see the money in your bank account.

WORST TRANSFER SERVICE EVER. Look at the image attached, notice the date on the transfer. It is ridiculous DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE, except you don't need the money for a month. I received an email telling the fund was available three days ago and still showing pending to this day.

I do not recommend this service, check with your bank if they use it. If they do, find another way to send the money.

I don't work for Popmoney; but I do work for an FI that uses their stuff. You didn't specify, but I am guessing that you most likely sent the payment to an email address or mobile phone number.

The recipient has to act on the email or text they receive, go to popmoney.com, register and provide their account information, verify the email or phone used in the payment- and then they will see any payments being sent to that email or phone to deposit.

The recipient gets 10 calendar days from the time you send a payment to do this; if they don't do it 10 days- the payment expires and returns to your account in 2-3 additional business days.

If your recipient doesn't act on the email or text, your money WILL be tied up for about 2 weeks.

If you enter their bank account information and send directly to their account rather than email or phone, it takes 3 business days from the send date.

Reason is when popmoney debits your account, they have no idea whether they got the money or not until a day later. This is how ACH works naturally. So it takes a day from the debit for the money to clear and show up in popmoney's holding account(s). Once they get the money from you and they see it in their account, they then send it to your recipient.

Your recipient then gets it on the 3rd day.

Money transfers and banking is rarely A to B my account -> other person's account. Last thing to know is if you register on popmoney.com yourself and choose to give them your debit card information, the limits are lower- but you can generally make next day speed payments (usually under 1k) for like 95 cents. The reason? With visa/mastercard- the availability of funds is known in real-time.

The need for popmoney to submit an ACH debit and wait a day to find out if you had money in your account or not is eliminated when using a debit card. Anyway I'm hoping this stuff goes away when Zelle (backed by same company that makes popmoney if you can believe that) goes big in 2018- because no one reads/understands any of it and that is obvious from the reviews here.

This service sux!!!! Period!!!

Their advertising is purposely worded for trickery of the average human. Ive been waiting 6 days for a payment already paid out by senders bank. I accepted 6 days ago. Today i was told at the end of the business day.

Again their vocabulary trickery. My next stop is BBB!

"when Zelle goes big in 2018"?

Zelle is the new name for clearxchange. It has it's own page here on pissedconsumer, and it looks remarkably similar to this one (for popmoney).

Customer Service is Horrible - Designed only to help themselves

I have had money transferred via popmoney in the past. I did not choose them, but i went along with my customer's decision and received funds using this service Besides a three day wait for the first payment - no issues at all. Simple enough. Just over 30 days later. Same person sending from the same account, to my same account. No changes, no changes in my credit, Nothing. NOTHING AT ALL HAD CHANGED. But, now my funds won't transfer. So a call to customer service. Somewhat understandable English from the customer server people. I've heard much worse. I kinda was able to understand most of what was being said I think. Most of the time. Kinda. It wouldn't matter though - because they can't answer a single question. And you can't speak to anyone who can. A few days later, a letter from them saying all the documentation I need to send in. Hopefully, my customer can cancle the transaction and I can just be done with popmoney. Hopefully I wouldn't mind working with them if someone would answer the phone from the account department. I MIGHT would even be willing to wait for 90 days (probably not honestly). I could easily verify everything. Lets forget the logic behind how this person and I have already transferred money. And there were no complaints, and it was over a month ago. Lets just ignore common sense totally. Why not right? Who am I to have an opinion, an actual responsible adult? But for them not to bother allowing me to ask questions, like HAS something happened I need to know about, is there some reason for all this? That's too much. I am sure their owners are on the beach counting money and could care less about us. But I will do what I can to spread the word Go with anyone but these guys. It can't be worse.

Its a scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I've noticed alot of complaints about pop money withdrawing and holding the money for about a week and then returning it sometimes taking fees sometimes not. Here's what they are doing, for one they are not providing the service, they are taking these payments and using the money to invest or make more, then returning your money after theyve already made profit with it. Or if they lost on the investment it'd be very easy to use someone elses money to return to your account. This is called a pyramid scheme and it is illegal.
